We are practicing photographers turned printmakers because we struggled to get our prints made for the longest time. Period. We decided to take the challenge and sail the stormy waters of the digital printing process ourselves. We are primarily focused on fine art / photographic ink-jet prints (Giclee ́ prints, if you prefer fancy words) on presentation grade or archival grade papers. While our primary interest was and has been photographic printing, during the course, we have worked with painters, sculptors, graphic designers, and other visual artists alike to help them reproduce their work.

We are also all-inhouse digitization (Scanning) center. We help digitize analog (Film negatives, transparencies, glass plates, etc.) content. We digitize/Scan, post-process and print digitally.

As we are the only set up that deals with the digitizing process in its entirety ( i.e. we photograph / digitize, process files and print in-house), we are best placed to understand the nitty-gritty of the process.

We understand that skill/knowledge transfer is essential for our long-term survival. Rangjyot is also a training / skill-transfer space where we train our friends in several aspects of digital workflow viz. Photography, digital catalog/data management, post-processing and preparing work for printing.

Lastly, we operate an open-book library. Often coffee-table books or work by eminent photographers is out of reach for many young photographers, mainly because it is very expensive to purchase! We understand the pain. We have made our personal collection available to anyone who wishes to avail. We welcome everyone during our office hours. Sincere apologies, we can not lend or let you borrow books.

We are a cost-plus setup, which means we exist to produce best in class work without having to break the client’s bank. It does not infer that we are non-profit / charity. But we are affordable and very good at what we do. (We are not ashamed to boast.)

Why us?

We pride in the fact that we are one of the very few establishments in India where the entire workflow is centred around colour accuracy and quality. We have learnt through experience that a well-made print is a product of several small/ incremental decisions along digital workflow and we are passionate about each one of them!

How do we work?

We love to engage and enter into conversations with artists and photographers alike. It is through conversation and dialogue with them, we understand how we can help them in producing the best reproduction of their work. We believe printmaking is a two-way street. It is essential for artists to engage and give input. Then not only can we produce the best results, we also develop an understanding of an artist’s sensibilities and preferences. Simply put, our approach really is to befriend who we work with or work for.

Who we work with/for?

Any photographer/artist/graphic designer / visual artist who wants the best possible prints of their work. We DO NOT compromise on Quality (Technology, Processes, Ink, Papers we stock).

Why we have a longer turnaround time?

Because we obsess about details and pursue perfection (which takes time). We prefer to review each file before we push for print. We understand that ink-jet printing is a costly affair and we disapprove of mediocre prints. So please be ready to hear from us, if we find that something is not right with the file(s) we have received.

What about equipment? what do we use?

We use everything state of the art. Our workflow matches the best in the world, no qualms about it. That is how we can produce best in class results, consistently. We believe equipment / technologies change and are transient. But to be precise, our workflow is Adobe RGB ready (Starting from digitisation process right through ink-jet print). We only use genuine inks and papers. We do not shy away from disclosing such details to our clients. For more information, please visit us. (Our cafe has some of the best chai/teas and coffees in Ahmedabad).
